A weapons cache was found in Kukës. Albanian Police showed that the camp's owner, Durim Mata, 44, was in custody.
Weapons, military ammunition, radioactive and chemical substances were confiscated during the operation. Experts from the Scientific Police Institute took samples of these items from experts from the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Radiology for their expertise in chemistry.
In the meantime, work continues to determine the level of risk these items pose to citizens' health, as well as the purpose of their storage and use.
"The police services of DVP Kuks and Kuks Police Station, supported by informational intelligence, have organized and concluded the coded police operation "Artizanati" in an environment (warehouse) in the city of Kuks where natural radioactive substances and chemical substances were kept. Additionally, the owner of this environment was carrying firearms without permission."
D. M., a 44-year-old Kuks resident, was taken into custody as a result of this operation.
The 44-year-old man was caught red-handed by the police in his own warehouse in the city of Kuks.
Dutzende of plastic drums containing natural and chemical radioactive substances was discovered during the warehouse's inspection.
For the purposes of their chemical expertise, the experts from the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Radiology have provided samples of these subjects to the Institute of Scientific Police. The work continues to determine the purpose of their storage and use, as well as the degree of risk they pose to citizens' health.
Additionally, a quantity of military ammunition and a Kalashnikov firearm was discovered during the search of citizen D. M.'s warehouse and seized as material evidence.
Under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Kuks Judicial District Court, the investigative structures of DVP Kuks, in conjunction with the Scientific Police Institute and Institute of Nuclear Physics and Radiology experts, continue their efforts to complete the case's documentation.
"The Prosecutor's Office received the procedural materials for further action," the police stated.
