The Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, through a video posted on Facebook, has announced that a rare heart intervention has been performed for the first time in Albania, which saved the life of a 27-year-old man.
"The doctors of the Hemodynamics service at University Center Mother Teresa made the miracle with a 27-year-old man, saving his life with a rare heart intervention that lasted 5 hours. For the first time in Albania, the CRT-D device (resynchronization therapy and implantable cardiac defibrillator) was placed, as well as the placement of a subcutaneous probe for cardiac defibrillation. CRT-D devices are very expensive devices and carry a high degree of difficulty to place, but thanks to the investments made in the QSUT and the qualification of the medical staff, the subtle intervention proved successful for the young 27-year-old. Super work of the team of doctors with Dr. Ormir Shurdha, Dr. Mirald Gina, the nursing staff of Hemodynamics with head nurse Ledja Grrica, and the special assistance for anesthesia of Dr. Saimir Kuçi", writes the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu.
Despite some achievements, corruption in Albanian medicine remains very high according to
studies,
surveys,
facts and public opinion. This is one of the main reasons that a good part of the population leaves Albania, as it doesn't matter how much money you have in the bank, everything will run out one day due to health issues because the corruption in the health sector is very present.
