The Basic Court in Pristina has announced the conviction of a total of 40 years of imprisonment for the four accused in the case of the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Pristina.
According to the court, the accused E.R. was sentenced to 15 years in prison, after being found guilty of the crime of "rape".
The minor XH.S. was sentenced to eight years in prison for the criminal offense of "rape" and "abuse of children in pornography". Minor G.R., was also found guilty of the same charges and was sentenced to nine years in prison, while the other minor, G.J., was sentenced to eight years in prison, local media say.
"The court has not found that the injured party was trafficked or a victim of the criminal offense of human trafficking," the announcement said.
The case of the rape of the 11-year-old became public last August. Authorities there said that she was suspected of being raped in a park in Pristina.
Also, the minor is suspected to have been the target of sexual violence in June 2022. For the June event, the authorities have filed an indictment against eight people.
In the announcement of the Basic Court of Pristina on February 24, it is not known for which case this conviction was pronounced.
The case of the rape of this minor provoked reactions among the society in Kosovo, in which case protests were held where "meritorious punishment" was demanded by the suspects.
In Kosovo, according to the data of the Kosovo Police, dozens of cases of sexual violence are reported every year.
The Kosovo Women's Network has said that the largest number of victims of this violence are girls aged 13 to 16 years.
