Coffee shop chains are a recent occurrence in Albania, but domestic brands have matured sufficiently to expand throughout the region, where Albanian brands are common. They're now expanding globally.

According to the World Coffee Portal, Mulliri i Vjeter, the oldest of the Albanian brands, has opened one of its signature cafes in Cairo, Egypt. The coffee chain, which has many locations in Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, has indicated that expanding into North Africa could be a step toward further international expansion. Mulliri’s first store outside of the region has opened in the Mivida gated community, New Cairo.

The coffee chain, which has its headquarters in Tirana, stated that the opening of the new location is a component of its strategy to provide "an Albanian coffee experience to customers around the world," pointing to the company's goals for expanding internationally.

Additionally, Mulliri sells its own brand of coffee in American and Balkan supermarkets.

The Albanian bistro experience is progressively changing from little mother and-pop shops into bigger chains that give marking and a uniform involvement with their bistros. Mon Cheri and Sophie are local rivals of Mulliri.
