The election of Nikos Christodoulides as the new president of Cyprus

 The second round of presidential elections in Cyprus has concluded with the counting of votes. The election has been declared the winner, and Nikos Christodulides is now in charge of the Republic of Cyprus. According to the Athens News Agency, Mr. Christodulides received 51.9 percent of the country's votes, while his deputy Andreas Mavrogiannis received 48.1 percent, local media say.

The "Tassos Papadopoulos Eleftheria" stadium is scheduled to host the announcement ceremony for the new President of the Republic shortly after 22:00.

In the end, 72.45% of people participated. 406,626 people cast ballots. Andreas Mavrogiannis, Nikos Anastasiades, and Averoff Neophytou called Nikos Christodulides to congratulate him on his victory early on.
