The US gives Albania 50 million dollars for the protection of cyber systems

 Albania will receive $50 million in support from the US to strengthen cyber security.

This is what American Ambassador Yuri Kim stated during the "Cybersecurity Challenges in Albania" conference, stressing that this support will only be the beginning for this sector.

"The US has worked alongside Albania together with our allies in responding to Iran. It is clear that Albania and the USA must identify a common defense. There are fully 50 million dollars in support of defense against cyber attacks for Albania. This is only the beginning of the assistance and it is not its completeness. Since 2017, we have started helping the energy sector. We are also working with the private sector. We cannot protect you, but we are by your side to help you," said Ambassador Kim.

Meanwhile, the EU ambassador, Christiane Hohmann, asked the National Information Society Agency of Albania (NISAA) and the state police to strengthen their capacities in terms of protecting the systems.


"NISAA should also improve its capacity for the supervision of the computer field because everyone knows that IT systems are as strong as they are weak. The same applies to the State Police, as the building of these capacities is very important, it is our duty to learn from those attacks and take the right lessons to become stronger", said Hohmann.

The work for which, according to interior minister Bledi Çuci, has started with the increase of the budget for investments in this sector, but also with the investment in human resources and the absorption of young professionals

The cyber attacks that Albania suffered from Iran and the hacking of data set the authorities in motion, who also requested the assistance of Microsoft company.
