The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana has requested "prison arrest" for the doctor Nazmi Metaliu and the imaging technician Astrit Masnaku, arrested for corruption and abuse of office.

The session to determine the security measure against them is expected to start at around 11:00, where the court will be familiar with the acts of the file and will decide whether to accept the request of the prosecution, or to assign a milder security measure to the imager and the doctor at the Mother Teresa Hospital (MTH) in Tirana, as Euronews Albania reports.

In the investigation file, it is said that everything started when a patient who was going to have a scan was postponed and another one was inserted in his place. This patient, who was going to pay 60,000 ALL, made a report, then they introduced an infiltrator and documented the violations that were committed in the MTH.

The interceptions showed that the doctors had set up a corrupt scheme with a public service. They admitted people out of line and received up to 120,000 old leks for each patient who was treated preferentially.

The investigations started a few months ago, and the investigators have documented several cases of violation of the law by two employees of MTH.
