Trafficker or lawyer..., the Albanian who is using the European convention to avoid deportation from Britain

Eldjord Ajazi
An Albanian citizen convicted of drug distribution is using European law to avoid deportation from Great Britain when he finishes his prison term.

Eldjord Ajazi, a courier in the cocaine business, is believed to have made £450,000 from this criminal activity before being arrested by police.

The 35-year-old arrived in 2006 on the island and since then stayed illegally in the country, until he was arrested in 2020. He was found guilty of drug trafficking and sentenced to 45 months in prison in February 2021.

But the former construction worker is already afraid of being deported and therefore has opened a process to stop his return to Albania, according to British media.

He is using a law from the European Convention on Human Rights, according to which a parent has the right to have contact with his children. In recent days, the court learned that Ajazi has a 2-year-old son, who was born while he was in prison.

The Convention on Human Rights is being used very often recently by immigrants in Britain and for this reason, Prime Minister Sunak is considering withdrawing the country from it in order to continue with the removal of illegal immigrants.

The Albanian's lawyer said before the jury that Eldjordi was aware of the crime he had committed and was sorry for it, and added that it is very difficult to separate the father from his child and partner.
