The Rinas border police prosecuted 2 Turkish citizens who did not declare the amount of money they had with them at the border.
During the physical check and the check of the backpacks, 30,450 euros were found on the citizen E.G., while 17,000 euros were found on citizen S.S., which these citizens had not declared at the border.
The police seized the amount of money of 47,450 euros, while the procedural materials in their charge were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court.
Amount of money allowed in Albanian customs
Based on the changes in law no. 9917, dated May 19, 2008, as amended, the Customs Administration informs all persons entering or leaving the territory of the Republic of Albania that they are required to declare sums in cash, any negotiable instruments, precious metals or stones, valuable items and antique objects, starting from the amount of 10,000 euros or its equivalent in other currencies, the purpose of their possession, as well as to present relevant supporting documents.
The declaration is made at the offices of the Customs Administration at the Border Crossing Point, entry or exit. The declaration is made through the form for reporting the transport of valuables at the border (RTVK), which is completed online at the customs offices at the Border Crossing Points.
False or inaccurate declaration or non-declaration, based on the above-mentioned law, article 17/1, gives the Customs Administration the right to impose a fine. When the non-declaration or false declaration is detected, in addition to the imposition of a fine by the Customs Administration, the case is treated in accordance with the provisions of the Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure..
