The Albanian State Prosecutor's Office announced on Wednesday that in cooperation with Macedonian authorities, they had also arrested 4 other individuals suspected of being involved in an attempt to traffic 324 kilograms and 400 grams of cocaine toward Italy.

The drugs were seized at the Port of Durres on June 18, 2021, while Nazif Ajroski from North Macedonia was trying to load a truck and cross from the Port of Durres to Italy, media say.

The cocaine was found in the truck's reservoir, packaged in 300 packets wrapped in plastic.

Ajroski was sent to trial on charges of "Drug Trafficking," "Organized Crime Group," and "Commission of Criminal Offenses by a Criminal Organization and Organized Crime Group," and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.

The SPAK continued the investigation in a separate criminal proceeding and, in cooperation with authorities in North Macedonia, identified 4 other individuals involved in this criminal activity.

The SPAK announced that they were arrested two days ago by authorities in North Macedonia and are suspected of being involved in the international drug trafficking attempt carried out by the organized crime group.

From the images released by the State Police at that time, the drugs were grouped into packets with different codes. They consisted of 7 symbols and inscriptions, representing its recipients.

The packets were disguised under the codes of "Chicago Bulls" - the logo of the American professional basketball team based in Chicago, the logo of the Football Club "Paris Saint-Germain," the symbol of a tiger's head, the logo of "Christian Dior," a luxurious French fashion house, and 3 other symbols.

The police announced at that time that the drugs were seized during the routine work of the Task Force set up at the port, composed of the Durrës Border Police, Criminal Police of the Durrës Police Directorate, and customs.

In 2021 and 2022, the authorities hit several cases of attempted smuggling of cocaine into Albania, mainly originating from Latin American countries and mostly found in containers transporting bananas.
