As we reported in the April 2 elections in the Canton of Geneva, Albanians have won 4 seats (Xhevrie Osmani, Leonard Ferati, Arber Jahija, and Skender Salihi) in the parliament of this canton. One of them is Leonard Ferati (PS), the youngest Swiss deputy, as reported by the Swiss newspaper in Albanian, Le Canton27.ch. Here's what and how Mr. Ferati swore in as a new deputy on the occasion of the third legislature, April 28, 2023, local media say.

Leonard Ferati: I solemnly promise:

to take as my only guide in the exercise of my functions the interests of the Republic according to the lights of my conscience, to remain strictly attached to the prescriptions of the constitution and never to lose sight of the fact that my powers are only a delegation of the supreme authority of the people; to observe all the duties imposed by our union on the Swiss Confederation and to maintain the honor, independence, and prosperity of the homeland.

It is with the consciousness of the path taken and the obstacles that life has imposed on me that I took the oath today.

With the same consciousness and sense of responsibility, I will also strive to serve the interests of the community as best I can and to listen to the voices of those who are heard less.

My presence in this parliament is a privilege. However, it would be selfish of me not to mention all those who must redouble their efforts to access this type of responsibility.

That is why I will try as much as possible to make my experience accessible to young people, especially those in working-class neighborhoods.

I am physically present in this parliament, but you are with me, because I owe you this election.
