The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) has awarded the Albanian scientist, Prof. Fioralba Cakoni, the status of "Fellow", along with 26 distinguished members of the community for their exemplary research and outstanding service to the community (SIAM Announces Class of 2023 Fellows).
SIAM Fellows is a group of distinguished individuals who contribute to the advancement of applied mathematics and computer science fields.
SIAM is an international association with over 14,000 members, headquartered in the United States.
The 26 members have been recognized for their contributions to their respective fields.
Among those recognized for 2023 is the external member of the Academy of Sciences of Albania, Prof. Fioralba Cakoni, from Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, recognized for her important contributions to inverse scattering theory, the existence of transmission eigenvalues, and non-scattering phenomena.
Fioralba Cakoni has held the title of professor since 2010 and obtained a Ph.D. in mathematics in 1993 from the University of Patras, Greece.
Since 2015, she has been a member of the mathematics department at Rutgers University, USA, which ranks 16th worldwide in terms of mathematics programs.
Prof. Cakoni has worked at several prestigious universities and collaborated with several of them, including Ecole Polytechnique in France.
Her scientific activity is at the highest international level and ranks in her field as one of the most successful professors in the world. This is evidenced by her publications, which include 117 publications.
Prof. Cakoni has been awarded the Simons Fellow in Mathematics - 2016 by the American Mathematical Society and accepted as a Fellow of the American Mathematics Society - Class 2019.
