The corporation LIKA Holding AG is expected to build a hotel in Davos instead of the famous clinic. Instead of patients, very soon guests will be welcomed in the new luxury hotel, explains Journalist Claudio de Pedrini, quotes the Swiss Albanian newspaper Le Canton27.ch
In 1906 the famous clinic in Davos was built by an English company. The clinic was completed in 1911 and sold 11 years later to the Canton of Thurgau and the Canton of Schaffhausen.
From the glorious time of Davos as a healing center, memories remain only in the novel "Magic Village" by Thomas Mann. Every year, around 1.5 million patients from all over Europe came to Davos to be cured of tuberculosis – between them and the clinic in question. After the discovery of the antibiotic, modern medicine replaced fresh air and stopped the great interest of patients in Davos clinics.
Journalist Claudio de Pedrini continues and explains: The goal of the city of Davos was to preserve the building. The investor LIKA Holding AG could have decided to destroy the building, as it is not a protected cultural monument. But it has convinced the investor LIKA Holding AG to build the new complex next to the existing building as discreetly as possible so that the new buildings do not cover the old building. Together with the investor LIKA Holding AG, the city of Davos has organized a national and international architectural competition in order to create a new project in harmony with the existing clinic building.
In the architecture competition that took place, a project that enables the creation of luxury apartments, together with the hotel, was victorious.
Davos city parliament member Simi Valär explains: The main challenge is to understand people's expectations of what should happen up there, because this area has a special meaning for the people of Davos. The purpose of the city of Davos was to advise investors LIKA Holding AG on this journey and show them what the people of Davos would have liked to have up there. Investors LIKA Holding AG were cooperative and welcomed our advice.
Cengizhan Ari, CEO of Neue Haus AG, part of LIKA Holding AG explains that the existing clinic will be transformed into a dignified hotel. We held a competition with the most prestigious international hotels and received very good responses.
The reconstruction of the old clinic into a hotel, which will open its doors in 2024, should begin in the summer.

First of all, it is really a pleasure for me to represent LIKA Holding AG at this project presentation in Davos. Of course, Davos is very well known and speaks for itself. Among other things, Davos is the center of the World Economic Forum as well as the location of some of the best ski slopes in the Swiss Alps. Therefore, we are actually very happy that the City of Davos and specifically the Member of Parliament for the City of Davos, Simi Valär, have agreed to cooperate so closely with us and allowed us to develop this monumental project. This is our chance as well as a great honor for us to contribute to a prestigious project in Switzerland. We are very grateful to Switzerland for all the opportunities it has given us, to achieve this success and to be able to inherit such a project as in Davos.
In the project in Davos, with this presentation to the community in Davos, we are in the final stages to start the construction of approximately 34,000 square meters of surface. Considering the unique location in Davos, as well as being considered the best in the Canton of Graubünden, we were allowed to give the hotel the name "Hotel Summit Davos". In addition to the hotel, in this project we will also build luxury apartments, SPA with Curative waters that Davos needs a lot, as well as Apartments with quality service. The hotel will open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2024.
