The first Albanian coast guards |
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, and the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, have distributed the first certificates of beach guards to 30 students from the University of Sports, who have been trained and certified by the National Emergency Medical Center.
"The National Emergency Medical Center, in collaboration with the University of Sports and under the direction of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, have now established a sustainable partnership, as the qualification of beach guards is one of the aspects that guarantees a safe tourist season. Beaches become safer with certified beach guards. There are about 900 students who have responded to the call and today we have the first 30 students who have been certified as beach guards," said Minister Manastirliu, local media say.
Considering the certification of beach guards an additional guarantee of safety, Kumbaro said that with the latest decision of the Council of Ministers, intervention against operators who do not comply with the presence of observers will be allowed, by revoking their right to manage the beach.
"It is a growing market, as operators now attract clients by saying that we have beach chairs, restaurants, and we also have a beach observer at our station, which is a guarantee for you. And we have it set by law and we are now controlling it. We have also made a change in the decision of the Council of Ministers, that our intervention against operators who do not comply with the regular presence of observers in their employment contract, will result in the revocation of their beach station contract," Kumbaro said.
As part of the measures plan for a safe tourist season, Minister Manastirliu also announced the opening of summer health centers.
