Elona Kalesha in the Court in Italy |
Elona Kalesha, a 36-year-old woman of Albanian origin who killed and then dismembered the bodies of her fiancé's parents, putting them in suitcases, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by an Italian court.
According to Italian media, she was accused of killing Teuta and Shpëtim Pasho, her ex-boyfriend's parents. The Pasho couple disappeared in 2015 and their remains were hidden in suitcases. Their bodies were found in a field along the Florence-Pisa-Livorno motorway in December 2020.
She was expecting a child with another man and for this reason, she killed her fiancé's parents in an attempt to prevent them from telling her fiancé, Taulant Pasho, who was engaged to Elona Kalesha at the time, that the child was not his.

This was the final conclusion of a true saga with Albanian protagonism in Florence, which became known as the "suitcase bodies" case. Three suitcases and later a fourth were found in Florence in December 2020. Inside them were the mortal remains of two individuals, a man and a woman.

After police investigations, it was discovered that the remains belonged to an Albanian couple, who were later identified as Shpëtim and Teuta Pasho. Suspicions began to arise about a mafia-related crime, due to the past of their son, Taulant Pasho. Later on, he was found to be imprisoned in Switzerland.
