Parachuting flights have gathered 30 amateur parachutists from Italy as well as air sports enthusiasts at Gjirokastra airport.

The three-day activity is organized in collaboration with the "Sky Dive Albania" association and the Italian Parachutists Association.

The parachute jumps from the plane were spectacular and provided thrills for many amateur participants. Among other things, such organizations promote the tourist values of Gjirokastra.

"Gjirokastra is a beautiful town that is welcoming us very well. We received the invitation to come and fly here, and we were welcomed with pleasure. We hope to come back in the future," says an Italian parachutist.

"It is a great promotion, to be honest, because for every person who returns home, they start talking to family members, friends, colleagues at work, and promote the places they have seen, such as Gjirokastra, Saranda, Vlora, Tirana, so they are the best business cards for tourism. When a tourist is satisfied for the first time, they are the ones who always bring more and more tourists, and they evaluate and give advice on the places they have been to, especially in structures that they find satisfying," says Egestina Levani, from Sky Dive Albania.

Last year, Gjirokastra Airport was certified for tourist and sports flights. Throughout 2023, national and international activities are being organized in its surroundings, promoting the tourist values of the southern part of the country.

According to the certification specifications, small planes weighing up to 5700 kg are allowed to land from east to west only in suitable atmospheric conditions.
