According to Fan Noli, Pisko is the first of German-speaking historians to write a detailed biography of Skënderbeu. This claim by Noli is very accurate if we compare it to some other academic monographs about Skënderbeu that were published mainly in the first half of the 19th century, especially in the context of German philhellenism, which became very active during the period 1821-1829, respectively the years of the Greek people's uprisings for independence and liberation from the Ottoman yoke. In his study on Skënderbeu, Pisko referred to both the studies and works that had been written until that time, as well as archival sources that he had at his disposal.

The work has 162 pages and consists of 18 chapters that are numbered with Roman letters and without titles. At the end of the work, the author has included two appendices that consist of several important documents, some letters from Skënderbeu, and parts of various studies that have special significance for the history of Skënderbeu. These fragments and documentary materials are in medieval Latin and Italian.

Pisko's study of Skënderbeu's history is one of the most important monographs in German historiography, after that of Schmitt. It stands much higher than other monographs on Skënderbeu, which were published mainly in the 19th century.
