Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, in a live interview with Euronews Albania from Rruga e Arbrit, said that today the tunnel 7 of this road will also be opened.

She said that with the opening of this tunnel, the road from Dibra to Tirana will take less than 1 hour and 20 minutes.

"Rruga e Arbrit remains in the focus of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, it is one of the most important projects for economic development. It has been a complex project, with complex geology that has required the focus of all engineering groups and my personal supervision.

Here I am in tunnel 7 which will be opened for the first time today. With the opening of this section of Rruga e Arbrit from Dibra to Tirana, it will take less than 1 hour and 20 minutes, as the Bualli pass will be avoided," said Belinda Balluku.

Asked when the Rruga e Arbrit will be completed, Minister Balluku said that with the opening of Tunnel 7, the project is considered finished, but the Murrizi tunnel has not yet been opened. According to her, in this tunnel, 300 meters are expected to be opened, which may take several months.

"The Rruga e Arbrit, with this section as a project, is considered complete except for the tunnel. The murrizi tunnel is a geological problem that did not appear during the study when it was done in 2017-2018. Today, the company working on Rruga e Arbrit is not receiving additional funds, so the road costs are what was agreed in the contract.

"But the tunnel issue is a technical issue, it has to do with engineering problems. I cannot give deadlines, but I have to say that the emergency tunnel, the one that is 3.1 kilometers long, is already open. Meanwhile, we have 300 meters in the Murrizi Tunnel, which may take several months," said Belinda Balluku.
