The Kosovo government announces the auction for the solar energy park of up to 100 megawatts

The Government of Kosovo has announced the first auction for a 100 MW solar park with a value of 75 million euros. This investment was made with the support of USAID and is considered a starting point for a new era of renewable resource development in Kosovo.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that the opening of this auction is crucial for Kosovo's progress towards investments in the energy sector. He expressed his expectation that solar energy investors will come to Kosovo, considering the country's economic and democratic progress.

"We are conducting our first auction at a very important moment for our country, as we are taking one of the major steps towards our green transition and the largest investments in our energy sector in decades," said Kurti.

On the other hand, the head of USAID, Samantha Power, who is currently in Kosovo, emphasized that Kosovo has a bright future in the energy sector. She stated that the country is on the right track to have 40% of its energy based on renewable sources.

Also present at the media conference on Friday was the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, who mentioned that through the announcement of this auction, Kosovo is entering a new era of development in renewable resources.

According to USAID, this auction is expected to help Kosovo provide affordable energy for its citizens. Similar auctions in neighboring countries have increased business confidence.
