Ylfete Fanaj |
Ylfete Fanaj was elected as a cantonal minister last week, becoming the first Albanian to be entrusted with an executive position in Switzerland.
For her new appointment, Fanaj was congratulated by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, as reported by Telegrafi.
Osmani stated that Ylfete Fanaj is an inspiration for our women and girls and proof that with hard work and dedication, everything is achievable.
"In 2021, I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Ylfete Fanaj, in her capacity as President of the Parliament of Lucerne in Switzerland, and I congratulate her on her successes in the Swiss state for years. She demonstrated zeal and determination to improve and advance policies for all communities without exception. Today, I am delighted to heartily congratulate her for becoming the first cantonal minister of Kosovar origin, simultaneously the first Kosovar woman entrusted with an executive position," said the statement by President.
Furthermore, Osmani wrote that "Ylfete is an inspiration for our women and girls and proof that with work and dedication, everything is achievable."
"She is among the most distinguished representatives of our diaspora, which is a vital part of the state of Kosovo. Honorable Ylfete, may you continue to be successful and be a strong connecting bridge between the Republic of Kosovo and Switzerland," added Osmani.
On a different note, Fanaj won representation for the canton of Lucerne, marking the highest executive position held by an Albanian woman in Switzerland.
Moreover, thanks to Fanaj, the Social Democratic Party (PS) managed to return to the government of Lucerne. For eight years, the PS was no longer represented in the executive of this canton.
