70 employees of a garment factory in Fier have been unpaid or partially paid for more than 6 months for their work.

In the past two months, they haven't been paid at all by the owner of the factory, who has also laid them off. In these circumstances, they have risen in protest for their rights, local media say.

Facing economic difficulties for their families, the laid-off employees have called for the intervention of state institutions to resolve this situation, as there has been no response so far.

"They fired me and said they would pay me when others come. Until now, I haven't received anything. It is legally required that when someone is laid off, their obligations should be settled. When we don't find justice even with you, then what should we do? They didn't tell us they went bankrupt," says one woman.

In support of the women, there was also a representative of the Garment Workers Union, Alfred Bushi. He stated that the lack of response from institutions is unjustifiable, and the employees should receive their rights.

On the part of the factory's management, there has been no response to the employees' claims. Meanwhile, the employees express their determination to pursue their cause until the end.
