Recently, Albania experienced a significant cyber attack, raising concerns among NATO allied countries, who suspected Iran's involvement. In response, Albania has strengthened its forces through close cooperation with the United States and the European Union to build an impenetrable defense against similar attacks, local media say.
The European Union organized a multi-day training and exercise in collaboration with renowned European experts and teams from neighboring countries such as Montenegro and North Macedonia. The four-day cyber training, facilitated by the Estonian eGovernance Academy and CybExer Technologies, saw the participation of top local authorities, including the presidents of Albania, Bajram Begaj, and Slovenia, Alar Karis.
At the conclusion of the training, the European experts conducted a test simulation of a cyber attack to assess the performance of the regional teams. The Albanian team emerged as the top performer, demonstrating exceptional professionalism and organizational skills in responding to potential cyber threats, surpassing the teams from Montenegro and North Macedonia.
Mrs. Mirlinda Karçanaj, the General Director of AKSHI, expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by Western allies and the Albanian team. She emphasized that Albania's capabilities and the skills of its team have significantly improved through the collective efforts of the institutions involved.
