The Albanian government is considering the possibility of integrating artificial intelligence to prevent corruption and abuse.

The new public procurement law approved in 2020 has made Albania one of the most transparent countries in public procurement procedures. With this statement, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku indicates that the competition is open and equal for all companies that invest or receive public contracts in our country.

"The legal framework reflects the fundamental principles of the European Union Treaty, such as transparency, equal treatment, non-discrimination, and value for money. Meanwhile, undoubtedly, free competition, mutual recognition, and proportionality are recognized," said Balluku.

To further improve the procurement system, aiming to avoid bureaucracy and corruption, Balluku states that digital variables and artificial intelligence will be used.

"The government has decided as one of its goals the vision of developing a digitalization system for the provision of public services. We aim to use artificial intelligence in the future to increase transparency, reduce the risk of corruption, and avoid human errors," expressed Balluku.

At the international conference on open procurement, Balluku also spoke about some successful cases in tender procedures in the energy and infrastructure fields, which have generated the interest of foreign companies for investments in our country.
