The Albanian athlete, Eva Buzo, who stopped in Karburun her brave challenge to swim back from Otranto to Vlora, has been hospitalized in Vlora due to the health problems she developed during the challenging journey.

During the 28 hours of swimming, she also had problems speaking due to the excessive salt. Under these conditions, the trainers have advised her to stop swimming, and therefore Eva has stopped the brave challenge.

The 35-year-old woman was sent to rehabilitation, where she is under the care of doctors. She was immediately placed in intensive care and according to doctors, she has hypothermia due to being in the water for a very long time, says her cousin Linda Buzo.

Eva had to perform a few hours to arrive in Vlora, where she had set a goal for herself as a destination.

The idea to undertake the swim towards her origin came to Eva during the period of isolation from the pandemic, when looking at some possible places to swim on Google Maps, she stopped at the distance between Italy and Albania.

During the swimming journey, Eva was followed by her 2 coaches who took turns riding in a kayak.

Eva is a lawyer in Australia and massively engaged with social issues, in defense of human rights. Has experience working in East Africa, South Asia and Australia, for various organizations including World Vision and Save the Children.
