Luiza Gega has triumphed at the European Team Athletics Championship.
Our athlete defeated Salpeter, thus earning the maximum points in the 5000-meter race for women.
Gega achieved a time of 15 minutes, 32 seconds, and 39 hundredths in the team championship held in Krakow. In this way, Luiza once again confirms her good physical form.
"It was not an easy race. The girl who came second is ranked third in the world and became the European champion in 2018. I knew that if I maintained that pace until the end, I would come out first because I know I am faster than her. I am the fastest athlete, and I felt comfortable.
I didn't want to run too fast as I was saving myself for the next race, where I also aim to win. It is my main race in the 3000-meter steeplechase, and I will try to achieve a fast time. It will be challenging since I don't have strong competitors to push me, but I will give my best to win," emphasized the Albanian athlete.
