Former Minister Saimir Tahiri has reacted for the first time after being released from prison today.

In a post on social media, he writes that he will continue to seek justice as he has done so far.

"I will continue to seek justice as I have done until now. I sincerely thank you for always believing in everything that I have done.

Thank you also for always lying, reminding me of the price of truth. I had the opportunity to face injustice. Now I have the opportunity to seek justice without hindrance. Thank you immensely, everyone," he writes.

The Elbasan Court has released former Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri from prison, deciding that he will serve the remaining part of his sentence at home.

The decision was made during Wednesday's court session by Judge Matilda Fetahu, following a request from the prosecution.

Fetahu accepted the prosecution's request for mitigating circumstances regarding Tahiri's family, arguing that he needed to take care of his young children due to his wife's health problems.

On the other hand, the American Ambassador Yuri Kim has written on her official page on Twitter about the release of Tahir and the privileges in the justice system in Albania, which do not find support from the United States of America.

This post of hers comes after the release from prison of the former Minister of the Interior, Saimir Tahiri.

According to Kim, a country like Albania that claims to join the EU and is a NATO ally cannot accept the "old ways of impunity".

Full statement:

Very disappointing to see that the old ways of impunity & privilege for some persist in the Albanian justice system. These old ways are not appropriate for a NATO Ally & EU aspirant, and they must be firmly rejected.US considers corruption to be a core national security threat. Those engaged in giving or accepting threats & inducements - for example, to help powerful friends - should understand that their actions will have consequences..
