An area of 16 hectares, planted with wheat, was engulfed in flames this afternoon, in the village of Topojë in Fier.

The area owned by one of the largest wheat growers in the area, Mili Sako, was burnt in just a few minutes, as the flames, also favored by the wind, spread rapidly, endangering a nearby farm, local medisa say.

The fire brigade immediately arrived at the scene, which made it possible to extinguish the flames. For the farmer Sako, the economic damage is considerable, as he does not believe that it could be a deliberate arson, but doubts are still numerous given the time and geopolitical context, where wheat is very useful in these times of war in Ukraine.

Farmer Sako has cultivated 45 hectares of wheat this season, while the best quality wheat has already rotted.
