With 536 votes in favor, 54 against, and 32 abstentions, the European Parliament has approved the report on Albania. With this approval, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) welcome Tirana's commitment to the European Union. Isabel Santos, the rapporteur for our country, stated that at this rate, Albania will conclude the accession process in record time.

"Albania has demonstrated a deep commitment to the integration process by implementing difficult reforms. The voting result shows that the European Parliament recognizes these efforts and that Albania is fully in line with the Common European Foreign and Security Policy. It acknowledges the merit shown by the country on its path towards EU membership," said Santos.

Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood, Oliver Varhelyi, congratulated Albania for the steps it has taken to pursue its path towards the Union.

"Since the first day of this Commission, the Western Balkans has been our priority. Joint commitment has brought progress. Since last year's debate, there has been a substantial development: almost a year ago, we opened accession negotiations with Albania. This was a significant step for the country and a clear recognition of Albania's progress in advancing the EU reform agenda. We must welcome the exceptional support given by the European Parliament for Albania's integration into the EU and for the ongoing accession negotiations," emphasized Varhelyi.
