The extremely large increase in the number of Albanian young people studying at universities in the Tri-State area, primarily New York, has prompted the General Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in the United States to support their initiatives, Diaspora Shqiptare reports.
For this purpose, last afternoon, a founding meeting was held at the premises of this consulate between the student boards of universities in the city of New York, a meeting convened under the auspices of the General Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo.
Diplomat Fatmir Zajmi, Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the RPC, told us that: "The aim of this meeting was to create a joint initiative or a gathering for student groups to come together."
The diplomat of the Republic of Kosovo in New York clarified that the first meeting was an open discussion on the importance of creating a common cooperation among students.
The roundtable meeting at this consulate was closely followed by Ms. Ana Mani, Executive Assistant to the Ambassador. Meanwhile, three (3) students representing the "Manhattan College Albanians" attended this meeting: Eleni Mazija, Dejvi Hoxha, and Frenki-Samuel Lulgjuraj, one (1) student representing the "Columbia University Albanian Society": Bekim Bruka, who is also interning at the General Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in New York.
Diplomat Fatmir Zajmi, in Charge d'Affaires at KPNJ, speaking about this very important initiative of Albanian students in American universities, said that the Boards at this meeting agreed in principle on further expansion of the initiative in other university student clubs, where it is anticipated that the next meeting will be held before the November Holidays.

The General Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in New York, which with its great and tireless work with the Albanian community, is playing the role of an Embassy or Mission of R.K. in the USA says that the Boards, with the encouragement of the Consulate, discussed the further expansion of the initiative to other university student clubs, and the future initiatives organized by them.
