The Kosovo Army has been reinforced with a very powerful weapon. It's about Bayraktar TB-2 drones purchased from Turkey, which have now arrived and become part of the Kosovo Security Force's arsenal, as Kurti reveals on his official social profile.

Prime Minister Kurti, along with the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force, General Bashkim Jashari, and Defense Minister Armend Mehaj, congratulated the officers who have completed the training for operating the drones.

Bayraktar TB2 is an unmanned combat aerial vehicle with long endurance at medium altitude, capable of controlled or autonomous flight operations from a distance.

The drone has a length of 6.5 meters, with a wingspan of 12 meters. Its first flight took place in 2014, and its high efficiency in combat has been confirmed. The cost of a Bayraktar TB2 drone is estimated to be around 5 million dollars.

While the Kosovo government has not disclosed the exact number of units purchased, fewer than 500 Bayraktar drones have been produced so far. Additionally, the Albanian army has also acquired this powerful weapon from Turkey.

Serbia had also placed an order for the purchase of several drones, but President Aleksandar Vucic announced the cancellation of the contract with Ankara as a sign of protest against the armament supplied to the Kosovo Security Force.

Ukraine remains the most active user of the drone, achieving excellent results in its confrontations with the Russian army. Ukrainian soldiers have even composed a song dedicated to the Bayraktar drone, which translates to "Flamurtari" ("The Flagbearer" or "Patriot" in English).
