The French Albanologist donates his library to Albania

The renowned French historian and archaeologist, Pierre Cabanes, an absolute figure in the field of Albanology, has donated his rich library of scientific works to Albania. The process of bringing it from France to our country has begun between the two reciprocal embassies, local media say.

"It is a very rich library. It would be a great help, a significant contribution for researchers. Specialized literature is scarce, and valuable and rare things are hard to come by."

Cabanes' contribution to the study of Albania's history is unparalleled. That's how his colleagues describe him, even daring, as his research work on Southern Illyria and Epirus is not easy.

"Ancient history should never be used for present purposes. The professor was categorical on this point. Sometimes he was even more daring."

Pierre Cabanes was the first director of the Franco-Albanian research mission in Apollonia and passed away on June 13th of this year.
