The Tirana Court decided on the security measure of detention in prison for 3 soldiers arrested for cultivated cannabis in the military unit 10-60 in Zall-Herr.

Gramoz Mullai, Rustem Koci, and Gentjan Zhurda, who are accused of abuse of duty, have not admitted to the criminal act they are accused of by the prosecution.

They are reported to have said that the Zall-Herr military unit covers 140 hectares of land, which is impossible to fully control, Euronews reports.

The defense argues that without expert analysis, they cannot be charged with cultivating narcotic substances.

The three arrested soldiers have claimed that they informed their superiors about the breached territory and the inability to control it all.

Two days ago, as part of the "FOKUS" operation, the Tirana police destroyed 125 cannabis plants cultivated within the military unit's territory in Zall Herr.

Euronews Albania has learned that the narcotic plants were spread across 6 parcels in the forested area.

What surprised the police the most was the fact that the plants were up to 2.7 meters tall, indicating that they had been cultivated for at least 3 months.
