All Albanian ministers in North Macedonia submit their resignations

All the five Albanian ministers affiliated with the DUI in North Macedonia have officially submitted their conditional resignations to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski. These resignations will be put into effect once the constitutional changes receive approval.

Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi made the announcement through a post on social media, stating that he, along with ministers Bujar Osmani, Kreshnik Bekteshi, Fatmir Besimi, and Jeton Shaqiri, submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, Radio Free Europe reports.

This move comes after the opposition party VMRO-MPMNE demanded these resignations to allow for a vote on the constitutional changes, thereby paving the way for European Union integration.

The resignation of the Albanian ministers also makes it impossible to elect an Albanian prime minister in North Macedonia for the first time, as previously agreed upon between DUI and SDSM.

Following DUI's readiness to resign, VMRO-DMPNE has declared that this political force is no longer a significant factor, and a new opposition front is forming within the Albanian political block that poses a real threat to DUI.

Meanwhile, SDSM has urged VMRO-DMPNE to vote in favor of the constitutional changes and demonstrate their support for the European agenda instead of obstructing it.

The ministers addressed their resignations to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, expressing their awareness of the country's integration aspirations and their commitment to its future within the European family. They stated that the resignations should take effect once the opposition votes on the constitutional changes, emphasizing the significance of integration and the dignified future of North Macedonia.
