In Albania, the Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE) has given its approval for another photovoltaic plant in response to the applicant's request for production licensing. This concerns a facility with a capacity of 50 MW.
The application submitted by Nova Solar System has received approval subject to certain conditions that it must fulfill regarding the agreement with the System Operator for connection to the grid, as well as periodic reporting to the ERE.
"The ERE Board decided to license the company 'NOVA SOLAR SYSTEM' sh.p.k. for the activity of electricity production from a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 50 MW for a 30-year period, on the condition that it deposits the agreement with the 'SYSTEM OPERATOR OF TRANSMISSION (SOT) sh.a.' with ERE prior to commencing operations for final connection approval.
The company shall inform ERE every 3 (three) months regarding the commencement of construction works for the photovoltaic plant, but no later than the date of October 21, 2024. This decision is subject to review by ERE based on the deposit of the agreement with SOT sh.a. and the information within the scope of the validity of the Preliminary Nomenclature Decision," as stated in the Entity's decision.
It is highlighted that the Directorate of Licensing, Authorizations, and Supervision will notify the company 'NOVA SOLAR SYSTEM' sh.p.k., the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the 'SYSTEM OPERATOR OF TRANSMISSION' (SOT) sh.a., and the 'FREE MARKET SUPPLIER' sh.a. regarding this decision.
By mid-July, there were 33 production licenses granted for photovoltaic installations by the Energy Regulatory Entity.
The majority of licenses have been granted for plants with capacities up to 2 MW, while licenses have also been granted for larger projects. Among these are the projects being implemented by Voltalia in Karavasta, with a capacity of 140 MW, divided into 70 megawatts for production and sale on the free market and 70 megawatts at a regulated price, according Monitor.
The company is also involved in another park in Spitallë, where progress is slower in terms of procedural aspects. Similarly, approvals have been granted for 20 MW installations in the Ersekë area and a 50 MW installation in the Fier area.
During 2022 alone, ERE licensed 15 entities for energy production from photovoltaic sources with an installed capacity of 227 MW.
