French archaeologist Christophe Goddard, who is part of the team that discovered the inscription of Emperor Justinian in the Archaeological Park of Ulpiana, expressed astonishment at the archaeological discoveries in Kosovo.

He stated that Europe should continue to support archaeological research in Kosovo, as it is shedding light on a very important part of the ancient history of Europe, local media say.

"We all in Europe should have a Dardanian percentage. Therefore, Europe, the European Union, along with the French Embassy (in Kosovo), is interested in continuing this project," Goddard said on Tëvë1 television.

The French archaeologist is part of the team that uncovered the inscription of Emperor Justinian in the Dardanian city of Justiniana Secunda, in the largest paleochristian basilica, within the Archaeological Park of Ulpiana, 5 km southeast of Pristina.

The recent archaeological discoveries in Kosovo confirm the thesis of Illyrian-Albanian continuity in Southeastern Europe, which had been contested by Serbian historiography.
