The German government has recently passed the law that legalizes the use and cultivation of cannabis for recreational purposes, to give further impetus to the global trend of easing punishments for users of this drug, as Reuters reports.
The law, which must also receive a parliamentary vote, allows adults to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis and grow 3 plants in their homes.
With this move, Chancellor Scholz's government hopes to crack down on the black market, protect consumers from contaminated marijuana, and ease the backlog of cases in the justice system.
