The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, today signed a decree granting citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo to the world-renowned Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare.

According to President Osmani, granting citizenship to the iconic figure of Albanian literature, writer Ismail Kadare, is an honor for the state of Kosovo as he has been a significant reference point for Albanians worldwide through his continuous literary contributions, as the Presidency of the Republic of Kosovo reports.

"The Republic of Kosovo and its citizens feel honored by the distinguished personality of our nation, the world-renowned writer Ismail Kadare, who has affirmed our language, culture, and tradition through his literary works," emphasized Osmani, as stated in a communication from the Presidency.

The decree granting citizenship to writer Kadare will be presented by President Osmani during her upcoming visit to Albania, which is scheduled to take place in the near future.

Earlier in June this year, President Osmani decorated the writer Ismail Kadare with the "Hasan Prishtina" Order, the highest recognition given by the Republic of Kosovo to eminent figures in the fields of culture, art, and society..
