 Kosovare Asllani sealed Sweden's victory against Australia with a stunning goal in the second half, securing their national team's third place in the 2023 Women's World Cup.

The Kosovan footballer struck from the edge of the 16-yard box to score and double Sweden's lead, earning them the bronze medal in the World Cup for the second consecutive time, Radio Free Europe reports.

Fridolina Rolfo had put Sweden ahead with a penalty goal in the first half.

Kosovare Asllani, 34 years old, is of Albanian descent from Kosovo. Her parents migrated to Sweden before the last war in Kosovo in 1998-99, where she was born.

She currently plays for the women's football club AC Milan in Italy and has been part of Real Madrid in Spain and Manchester City in England.

Asllani, who visited Kosovo last year, was named the best female footballer of the year in Sweden in 2017.
