The Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, has stated that Kosovo has the lowest level of national debt in Europe.

Murati has declared that this achievement has been made possible due to fiscal discipline and effective management of public funds, Kosovo media say.

"Thanks to fiscal discipline and effective management of public funds, we have managed to change the trend of national debt, returning it to pre-pandemic levels. Such consolidation has also been highly praised by international institutions," Murati wrote.

He emphasized that this consolidation primarily keeps the cost of interest under control, as less debt means less interest payment.

"Secondly, it provides us with more favorable financing conditions for new loans compared to others, as we have demonstrated fiscal sustainability and prudent use of public funds."
