The Balkan Beach Volleyball Championship has kicked off in Pogradec. Participating in this inaugural edition are countries including Albania, Kosovo, Turkey, Romania, and Moldova. The organizers state that it will be three days of intense competition between the participating teams in both the men's and women's disciplines.
"This championship is a collaboration between the Albanian Volleyball Federation and the Municipality of Pogradec. There have been beach sports competitions before, but not on a Balkan scale involving multiple countries," stated Klevis Cane, the Director of Sports in Pogradec.
The Albanian team seems to have limited chances of winning, as they lost their first match to Romania, while potential contenders include the Kosovo teams. The championship concludes on Sunday.
