New York City: "More than 700 Albanians are part of the American law enforcement agencies, present at the White House and the FBI!" at least that's what a high-ranking officer stated in an interview with Voice of America.
It was a group of Albanians who initiated it, gathering around 120 Albanian-American police officers, practicing this profession in the blue uniforms of the United States, most of them from the New York Police Department, but including some Albanian officers from neighboring states, who established their association in Brooklyn, naming it the "Illyrian Society of Law Enforcement."
The first president of this association was chosen to be former police officer Captain Flamur Cani, who had worked for nearly 25 years in the NYPD (New York Police Department).
Following him, the leadership of this association was taken over by Senior Officer Ylli Dautaj, holding the rank of Lieutenant in the NYPD, and later succeeded after completing two terms by police officer Jacqueline Marku.
Police officer Jacqueline Marku, a well-known exemplary officer for her unwavering dedication, is noted for being promoted to the esteemed position of detective due to her continuous efforts and unwavering commitment to community service.
