In the flood-affected areas in central Greece, rescue operations continue with intensity. However, some sellers have attempted to profit from the natural disaster following the floods.

Greek media reports that on the social media platform Facebook, there are some notifications from market sellers offering water for the areas that are flooded and have no access to either water or electricity.

This concerns the Volos area, where sellers are offering water for 6-7 euros.

It's worth noting that in the port city of Volos, with around 150,000 residents, heavy rainfall has caused streets to be submerged in mud. Vehicle traffic is prohibited to allow rescue forces unrestricted access. Both water and electricity supplies have not been functioning since Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, in the rest of Greece and the tourism sector, things continue normally. In the tourist region of Pelion in Thessaly, approximately 500 vacationing families are isolated due to the flooding. The deputy mayor of South Pelion, Dimitris Parrisiadis, told the "Kathimerini" newspaper that the destruction is significant, and most of the villages are cut off from the surrounding world. Around 500 Greek families and tourists are isolated in the southern part of Pelion.

Since Monday evening (September 4, 2023), Greece has been hit by a low-pressure storm that caused heavy rainfall. On Wednesday evening, "Daniel" reached the region of Africa, causing flooding in some metro stations in Athens.

The government and experts classify the amounts of rainfall as an extreme weather phenomenon. In Magnesia, within 24 hours, so much rain has fallen, which has not been recorded since the beginning of records in 1955. According to meteorologists, weather conditions have started to improve since Friday.
