The Chairman of the Council for Human Rights in the Presheva Valley, Belgzim Kamberi, welcomed President Bajram Begaj's speech at the UN, where he raised the issue of house passivation and the violation of the rights of Albanians in the Presheva Valley by the Serbian side.
Kamberi emphasized that what Albanian diplomacy should do is to make the issue of house passivation in the Presheva Valley a condition for Serbia's accession to the EU, just as the Association was set as a condition for Kosovo's integration processes.
He also added that the EU should initiate an investigation into the passivation of settlements in the Presheva Valley and the registration of Albanians living in this area.
"This is what the authorities of the Republic of Albania should do regarding the issue of passivation and non-compliance with agreements by Serbia for Albanians in the Presheva Valley. President Begaj's statement at the UN is welcome. Although the issue of house passivation should be further pushed to become a condition for Serbia's EU membership. Unfortunately, just as Serbia's agreements for the Presheva Valley are not part of Serbia's conditions in the European integration process, neither is the passivation of addresses. This was a possible path for Albanian diplomacy, as well as Kosovo's, to increasingly push this issue so that house passivation would become a condition by both us and the EU, just as it is happening with the Association," he
