Nearly half of the tourists who have visited Albania between January and July are from Kosovo.

Data from the Institute of Statistics show that out of a total of 5.2 million foreign tourists, 2.2 million are Albanians from Kosovo. Italians come second with over 430 thousand tourists, followed by citizens from Montenegro, North Macedonia, Greece, and Germany, local media report.

"It's noticeable that in the last two years, we not only have patriotic tourism but also tourists from Western countries. This is a very good sign," says Albiona Muçoimaj, a tour operator.

Data from the Institute of Statistics also reveal that tourists from 152 different countries around the world have visited Albania so far.

Tour operator Albiona Muçoimaj also shares what foreign tourists have preferred the most in these 7 months.

"From the mountains, the sea, to cultural tourism as well. There's a blend of tastes and preferences among foreigners."

Data from INSTAT show that the only countries from which Albania has not had any tourists between January and July are Congo, Eritrea, Monaco, Tuvalu, the Bahamas, and Belize.
