Pogradec will be the venue for the World Championship in water motorsports next year

Pogradec is set to host water racing and jet ski competitions dubbed "Formula One" on Lake Pogradec from July 1st to July 7th in the upcoming year. The key figures from these racing events formalized a partnership agreement with Pogradec Mayor Ilir Xhakolli on Wednesday.

According to Kris Spaho, the ambassador for Formula One in Albania, this event represents the most significant sports and tourism gathering our country has ever witnessed, Euronews reports.

"We specifically selected Pogradec during the peak tourist season due to the city's unparalleled natural beauty," he elaborated. The competition is expected to draw more than 600 participants, including racers and their support teams, and will be broadcast live on some of the world's most prestigious television networks.

Mayor Xhakolli emphasized that an event of this magnitude, hosted in Pogradec, carries great significance not only for the city but also for Albania as a whole. He pledged to exert maximum effort to ensure that all requirements for organizing a world-class event are met.

Throughout the week-long tournament, elite pilots from 43 internationally renowned teams representing various countries worldwide will vie for supremacy in two categories: jet ski racing and water motorsports.
