Carabinieri investigating the scene |
Savona is once again in shock as the dark cloud of femicide casts its shadow over the city. On Sunday, October 29th, a young 31-year-old woman, Etleva Bodi, lost her life. Etleva, originally from Albania, had been residing in the Ligurian city for some time. She was strangled by her 41-year-old Albanian husband, Selami Bodi, a construction worker, in their bedroom in the central neighborhood of Villapiana. The couple had four young children, all minors, ranging from 5 to 11 years old, local media reports.
Etleva Bodi, a victim of femicide, fought for her life in a Savona hospital for nearly 48 hours. Sadly, on Sunday evening, doctors had to declare her death. Her condition had appeared critical from the moment paramedics arrived at the scene. Upon entering their home, accompanied by Carabinieri, they found the 31-year-old woman unresponsive.
According to initial reports, during the night between Friday and Saturday, husband and wife had a disagreement. Etleva had retreated to their bedroom and was on the phone, though it's unclear with whom. Selami overheard her talking, opened the door, and strangled her. He released his grip only when she had stopped breathing. Afterwards, he made the distress call for help. After an exhaustive eighty minutes of resuscitation efforts and ten adrenaline injections, medical professionals had managed to revive her vital functions. However, hope faded on Sunday night at the hospital.
