The person you see in the photo is Dritan Metaj, the only one arrested following the implementation of the operation codenamed "Flames at Sea," the first phase of which was finalized in August 2023.

Metaj is the chief of the Laç Police Station connected to the gang in the Fushë Kuqes area. He is accused by the police of supporting the structured criminal drug group. This fact was made public today in a media conference by the Director of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku.

Dritan Metaj was appointed as chief in Kurbin on March 21, 2023, following the departure of Përparim Allmuça.

Director General of Police Muhamet Rrumbullaku: The mega-operation "Flames at Sea," the conducted investigations, and the current actions confirm the determination of the Police to fight in collaboration with organized crime partners. However, they also strengthen our commitment to self-cleansing from any individual who uses the Police uniform to violate his oath, not serving the law, society, protecting lives, and the rights of citizens.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, I call on every citizen not to hesitate to report any misconduct by the Police officers, as self-purification within the ranks of the State Police is not a campaign for us, but a priority and an ongoing process to build a Police with high moral and professional integrity to offer citizens the highest quality service.

Today, SPAK has undertaken an operation that is being carried out in several cities: Tirana, Kruja, Durrës, Vlorë, Kurbin.

The "arrest with detention" measure has been issued for citizens Gëzim Çela, Arben Dalipaj, Roland Guxo, and Dritan Metaj, the Laç Police chief.
