Investments in Albanian agriculture, 11 million euros for irrigation and drainage
 
 Investments in water and irrigation infrastructure include at least 42 projects with a total value of around 11 million euros over three years.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that in the "Management of Irrigation and Drainage Infrastructure" program until August of this year, 43.9% of the planned expenditures have been executed, Monitor reports, Monitor reports.

Specifically, according to the report, work on the maintenance of water infrastructure facilities has been completed, which influenced this year's irrigation season, especially by making the main Peqin-Kavaja irrigation canals operational, covering the municipalities of Peqin, Rrogozhina, and Kavaja. Other irrigation canals such as Naun Panxhi and Poilis Tudan that cover the municipality of Elbasan and water extraction works for several main irrigation canals under the administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Mat-Lezha, Mat-Kurbin in Lezha, Kurbin, Vjose-Levan-Fier in Fier, Water Branches with the Thanës Reservoir in Lushnje, etc).

Work also continues on cleaning the main drainage network, with about 80% of the work currently completed.

"Normal operation has been made possible for 27 pumping stations, which serve irrigation for about 70,000 hectares, while work is underway to complete the maintenance of pumping stations (ordinary maintenance of electric pumps and electrical release equipment, and ongoing final commissioning of pumping stations for readiness at the beginning of the rainy season)," the document states.

Regarding investments, the ministry indicates that there are at least 42 projects in total in this program.

So, 15 projects, with a value of 483 million lek, have continued from 2022, out of which 12 projects have completed their works, while 3 projects are in progress, and about 60% of the civil works have been completed so far.

Meanwhile, 27 projects are new, with a value of 682 million lek, of which 7 projects are planned to be fully financed in 2023, while for the other 20 projects, the financing extends mainly over the years 2023-2024.

Out of the total new projects, contracts have been signed for 22 projects, where 12 of them have an average progress of about 50% of the works, while the other 5 projects are in the stage of evaluating offers.
