Former head of the OSCE verification mission in Kosovo, William Walker, has raised questions about the withdrawal of the armed group from the Banjska Monastery. He even stated that KFOR troops should also be investigated for this, Kosovo media report.
The terrorist attack on the Kosovo Police in the northern part of the country has also alarmed Ambassador William Walker.
Former head of the OSCE Verification Mission in Kosovo, William Walker, says that a thorough investigation is needed for this serious event to understand who the heavily armed individuals were and who authorized them.
At the same time, Walker has called for an investigation into KFOR peacekeeping troops.
"For this serious case, a full investigation is needed. We need to understand who these individuals are, who authorized them, and where they obtained all that weaponry. When the parties are negotiating for the normalization of relations, how is it possible for this to happen? Vučić has many questions to answer now. A serious investigation needs to be conducted into KFOR as well because there are voices saying that they negotiated and allowed the attackers to leave when, in fact, they should have been arrested and brought to justice," he said to Tëvë1.
The retired American diplomat says that Serbia should extradite the attackers to Kosovo, initiating a legal process against them.
Following what happened on September 24, Walker expects reflection from the international community regarding the issue of establishing the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities.
"It is now important for Serbia to extradite the attackers to Kosovo and initiate a legal process against them. Serbia must understand once and for all that North Mitrovica belongs to the Republic of Kosovo and should not interfere in the internal affairs of Kosovo. The serious event on September 24 shows once again how dangerous the formation of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities can be, where Serbs can gain autonomy in the northern part of the country. I believe that now the international community will reflect on what happened on September 24," he said.
Milan Radojičić, Deputy Chairman of the Serbian List, claimed responsibility for organizing the terrorist attack against the Kosovo Police in the village of Banjska in Zvečan.
