The Durrës Court has declared its lack of jurisdiction to review Fredi Beleri's request. Thus, the request of the elected mayor of Himara is transferred to the Supreme Court for assessment.
Meanwhile, the leader of the PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule, expressed after the decision that human rights have been blatantly violated. According to Dule, who referred to Beleri as a political prisoner of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the case of the elected mayor of Himara has set a dangerous precedent.
The Ambassador of Greece to our country, Konstantina Kamitsi, is also present near the court premises.
It should be noted that Fredi Beleri has requested special permission from prison to be sworn in as mayor before the Himara Municipal Council.
Through this request, Beleri appeals the decision of the Prison Directorate, which denied him the permission that would enable him to assume the position of mayor.
